Who Are We
We are a well-funded, early-stage startup in stealth mode, building modern infrastructure to transform B2B payments. We are looking for builders who want to solve complex problems from the ground up.
We are hiring a US Compliance Officer to build and lead our compliance function, with a path to grow into a global CCO role.
About the Role
You will build and evolve our enterprise compliance program across federal and state obligations, bank partner requirements, and third-party commitments. You will set policy, partner with Product and Engineering, own regulator and bank partner relationships, and create a pragmatic compliance culture that enables speed with control.
The role may start part-time, about 20 hours per week, and transition to full-time in September. Location is flexible; North America or LATAM market experience is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
Build the enterprise compliance program across regulatory, bank partner, and third-party requirements.
Own risk assessments, policies, training, monitoring, testing, and issue remediation.
Regulatory & Partner Relationships
Serve as primary contact for regulators, sponsor banks, and auditors.
Lead exams, audits, sponsor bank reviews, and remediation.
Manage state licensing, filings, renewals, reporting, and related obligations.
BSA/AML, Sanctions & Financial Crimes
Run the BSA/AML, sanctions, and financial crimes program, including CIP/CDD/EDD, monitoring, SAR/CTR filings, OFAC screening, and model validation.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Risk, and Operations to tune rules, reduce false positives, and scale investigations.
Product Compliance
Embed compliance into product development, feature reviews, marketing, disclosures, and launch approvals.
Manage complaints, root-cause analysis, and required executive or regulatory escalation.
Governance, Vendor & Data
Own compliance aspects of vendor risk, bank partner due diligence, sub-processor oversight, and contractual requirements.
Partner with Security and Privacy on GLBA Safeguards, state privacy laws, and incident response obligations.
Operations & Team Leadership
Build a high-performing compliance and operations team with clear standards and career paths.
Create efficient processes and tools, including selective outsourcing and AI-enabled workflows.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of U.S. financial services compliance experience, including 3+ years in senior leadership.
Hands-on experience with MTL applications, annual filings, and license maintenance.
Cross-border payments experience.
Experience building or materially rebuilding a compliance program at a fintech, bank, or regulated financial services company.
Excellent communication skills and ability to translate regulation into actionable guidance and Board-ready reporting.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior named BSA Officer experience.
Experience with additional markets, sponsor-bank models, multi-state MTL, or high-growth fintech environments.
JD or relevant certification such as CRCM, CAMS, CFE, CIPP/US, or CCEP.
Familiarity with modern GRC and monitoring tools.
