TAR

Mission

TAR’s mission is to power intelligence for the world. We are building the world’s first off-grid power plant for data centers powered by renewable technologies.

We firmly believe AI should be built in the US for the benefit of all people. For that, power must be fast, clean, and scalable. We are singularly focused on delivering GW-scale power faster than anyone has ever done, by rethinking every layer of the stack.

To deliver on this vision, TAR manufactures, deploys, and operates off-grid energy assets with a renewable backbone. We vertically integrate to solve every bottleneck, from racking systems to power electronics to dispatch algorithms to on-site construction.

Leave your mark by powering the future of civilisation-scale energy infrastructure.

We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!

Company

We are a team of seasoned operators run by founders who previously scaled a company to over 80 people and $350M in annual sales. We know how to operate, and we move fast.

We are working directly with one of the largest compute providers to make our vision come true and plan to deploy 5GWs by 2028.

TAR is both a hardware and software company, we are building out massive, critical, physical infrastructure.

We operate on…

  • High ownership. High Agency. Own project end-to-end. Great people don’t need to be managed.

  • Speed. We achieve great things on incredible timelines. We always push ourselves to go faster.

  • First principles. No ego. No hierarchy. Challenge every assumption.

  • Passion. Solving the energy problem is one of the largest challenges that faces the world now and in the future. We put in long hours and hard work to solve this.

About the role
You keep TAR running. This is the person who makes sure the office works, people get paid, travel gets booked, receipts get collected, and the thousand small things that would otherwise land on the founders' desks simply get handled. It spans real HR and payroll on one end and "we need someone to figure out the office party and order the standing desks" on the other.

You are resourceful, organized, and impossible to fluster, and you take pride in being the reason everyone else can focus on building. As an early hire, you'll set up the systems a fast-scaling company needs and grow into owning People and Operations as the team expands.

Responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day office operations: supplies, equipment, vendors, facilities, and the general "make the place work" function.

  • Own payroll and core HR: onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration, PTO, employment paperwork, and basic compliance.

  • Manage travel: book flights, hotels, and logistics for the team and for site trips to West Texas.

  • Own expenses: collect and organize receipts, track and reconcile spend, and keep things clean for the finance team.

  • Plan and run team events, offsites, the office party, and anything that keeps culture strong as we grow.

  • Be the catch-all for the random and urgent: if something needs doing and has no obvious owner, you pick it up and close it out.

  • Set up and improve the lightweight systems and tools (HR, payroll, expense, scheduling) a scaling company needs, replacing duct tape with process as you go.

  • Support the founders and leadership with scheduling and ad hoc operational needs.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in office management, people operations, HR, executive support, or a generalist startup operations role.

  • Hands-on experience running payroll and basic HR administration.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle many small things without dropping any.

  • Resourceful and self-directed. You find the answer or the vendor or the workaround yourself.

  • Strong communicator who's comfortable being the connective tissue across a busy team.

  • Discreet and trustworthy with sensitive payroll, HR, and financial information.

Preferred

  • Experience standing up HR/payroll/expense systems at an early-stage company.

  • Familiarity with tools like a modern HRIS/payroll platform and an expense system.

  • Bookkeeping or finance-adjacent experience.

  • Comfort in a fast, scrappy, first-of-a-kind environment where the role will keep changing.

Salary and Benefits

  • Total compensation: $100-195K/year.
