AFRL plans and executes USAF programs in the areas of basic research, exploratory development, and advanced development. Delaware Nation Industries (DNI) is currently providing organizational support to AFRL at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base OH. This support includes tasks to ensure an effective Information Management concept and structure that fosters timely deployment and optimal operation of Information Systems to support the critical research of the Department of War (DoW) mission.
This position serves as a mid-level System Analyst working as part of a collaborative administration team. This role provides essential systems administration and technical support, focusing primarily on modern Windows environments while also supporting Linux systems. It is an excellent opportunity to build enterprise IT skills while directly supporting national security research initiatives.
- Administers, maintains, and troubleshoots modern enterprise Windows and Linux endpoints and servers within a team environment.
- Executes patch management, software deployments, and system updates utilizing Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) under the guidance of senior administrators.
- Implements and validates standard Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and security configurations on both Windows and Linux systems to maintain rigorous DoW compliance standards.
- Manages daily user account administration, access controls, and Group Policy configurations within Active Directory.
- Resolves mid-level to complex OS and infrastructure issues, escalating architectural matters to senior engineering staff.
- Maintains technical documentation, administrative procedures, system inventories, and operational logs.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in a systems administration or IT operations role.
- Must possess an active DoW 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) or IAT Level I certification with the ability to obtain Level II.
- Must possess an active Secret security clearance (or higher).
- Demonstrated experience independently administering and troubleshooting modern Windows Server (2019/2022) and workstation (Windows 11) operating systems.
- Proficiency in managing Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPO), DNS, and DHCP in an enterprise environment.
- Ability to navigate, manage, and perform administrative tasks within a Linux environment (e.g., RHEL 10).
- Experience implementing and validating Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to maintain system compliance.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated ability to write and utilize scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for system automation.
- Hands-on administration of vulnerability scanning, assessment, and remediation tools (e.g., ACAS, Nessus).
- Experience administering and maintaining virtualized infrastructure (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira) for tracking and resolving technical issues.
