Supply Chain Sourcing Manager – Control Panels & Automation Systems
The Supply Chain Sourcing Manager – Control Panels & Automation Systems is responsible for planning, sourcing, purchasing, logistics, and supplier management across industrial control panels, automation hardware, electrical enclosures, communications equipment, and associated balance-of-system components. This role focuses on ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of control system hardware that enables ON.energy's power infrastructure deployments.
The role partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, and Quality to align supply chain strategy with business objectives and support safe, reliable, and scalable deployments.
Category-Specific Responsibilities – Control Panels & Automation Systems
Source and Manage Procurement of Control Panel Systems
Lead sourcing and procurement activities for:
  • UL 508A industrial control panels
  • Custom panel assemblies and fabricated enclosures
  • PLCs and automation controllers
  • Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
  • Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
  • Protection relays and control relays
  • Industrial Ethernet switches and communications equipment
  • Industrial computers and edge devices
  • Sensors, instrumentation, and field devices
  • Wiring, terminal blocks, power supplies, and panel accessories
Develop and manage relationships with:
  • Control panel fabricators and contract manufacturers
  • Automation and controls OEMs
  • Electrical distributors and channel partners
  • Communications and networking equipment suppliers
Partner with Engineering on Technical Requirements
Support sourcing and supplier selection for equipment including:
  • PLC and automation platforms
  • Industrial networking infrastructure
  • SCADA and remote monitoring systems
  • Protection and control systems
  • UL, NEC, utility, and customer compliance requirements
  • Product lifecycle management and obsolescence planning
Contract Negotiation and Commercial Management
  • Negotiate supply agreements covering pricing, lead times, warranties, inventory programs, and service support.
  • Establish strategic relationships with key panel fabricators and automation suppliers.
  • Secure manufacturing capacity and production slots for critical projects.
  • Manage commercial risks, escalation clauses, and supplier performance commitments.
  • Develop framework agreements to support rapid scaling and repeatable deployments.
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for control panels, automation equipment, and electrical components.
  • Lead supplier qualification, RFQs, RFPs, negotiations, and contracting activities.
  • Drive cost optimization through design standardization, volume aggregation, and total cost of ownership analysis.
  • Support new product introductions and manufacturing scale-up initiatives.
  • Evaluate alternative suppliers and sourcing strategies to improve resiliency and reduce lead-time risk.
Supplier Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with panel fabricators, automation OEMs, and key component suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews focused on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.
  • Lead supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support supplier audits, manufacturing assessments, and qualification efforts.
  • Drive corrective actions and recovery plans when supplier performance issues arise.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Engineering to standardize components and improve manufacturability.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Operations to ensure material availability and project readiness.
  • Support commissioning teams with spare parts planning and field support requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality on supplier audits, NCR resolution, and corrective actions.
  • Align with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and savings initiatives.
Continuous Improvement & Risk Management
  • Monitor market trends in automation equipment, industrial controls, semiconductors, and electrical components.
  • Track supplier capacity, lead times, and product obsolescence risks.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks associated with long-lead controls equipment and custom panel fabrication.
  • Develop contingency sourcing plans for critical components and strategic suppliers.
  • Implement procurement process improvements to support rapid growth and operational scalability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of supply chain, sourcing, or procurement experience with industrial electrical equipment, control panels, automation systems, or power infrastructure.
  • Experience sourcing custom control panel assemblies, automation hardware, and electrical equipment.
  • Strong understanding of industrial controls and automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with UL 508A control panels, electrical distribution equipment, and industrial communications systems.
  • Proven negotiation, supplier management, and contract administration skills.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Experience supporting energy, industrial, data center, utility, or critical infrastructure projects is preferred.
