Seaborne Shipbrokers S.A. is a leading provider of client-focused Shipbroking services based in Athens, Greece, offering expertise in Sale & Purchase, Newbuildings Contracting, Chartering, Financial Advisory, Research, and Valuations to Shipowners, Private and Public Equity investors, and Credit Institutions.
We are currently seeking a highly experienced Financial Controller to lead and strengthen the Group’s accounting control, financial reporting, and compliance functions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing structure, improving financial visibility, enhancing reporting processes, and ensuring timely and accurate financial management across the Group’s international operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the accounting and financial reporting operations of the Group
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures across Group entities
- Review reconciliations and accounting and monitor the Trial Balance
- Ensure audit readiness and oversee accounting records prior to external audits
- Prepare and review Financial Statements, management reports, and financial analyses
- Prepare and monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages
- Monitor financial performance, profitability, and key financial indicators across Group entities
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Establish and improve accounting controls, reporting processes and reporting timelines
- Own the Group's financial reporting framework and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information
- Serve as the primary owner of Financial Statements, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes
- Support Management with financial visibility, reporting, and strategic decision-making
- Participate in ad hoc financial, operational, and corporate projects
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
- Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA, SOEL or equivalent) will be considered an asset
- Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant professional experience, within Shipping
- Strong experience in financial reporting, audits, accounting controls, and multi-company structures
- Excellent understanding of accounting standards and financial processes
- Proven experience managing external auditors and financial stakeholders
- Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
- Ability to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
