Event Network is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to own and advance our IT security, compliance, and resilience posture. This is a player–coach role for a hands-on security professional who combines strong technical execution with leadership and accountability.
You will be responsible for securing corporate endpoints, identities, and SaaS platforms across a 3,000-employee environment, owning PCI compliance, and overseeing business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) planning and exercises. This role works directly with the CTO, leads a small team, and offers clear growth opportunities as the security function matures.
What You’ll Do
Security Engineering & Operations
• Secure Windows-heavy endpoint environments
• Manage Microsoft Entra ID (identity and access management)
• Implement and manage endpoint and email security controls utilizing solutions such as CrowdStrike and Abnormal
• Partner with infrastructure teams on Palo Alto firewalls, VMware, and Nutanix
• Use Nagomi or similar exposure management tools to identify risk and drive remediation
• Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents
• Continuously improve corporate IT security posture
Compliance & Audit
• Own PCI compliance end-to-end
• Lead audit preparation, execution, and remediation
• Serve as primary contact with external QSAs
• Align security policies with PCI DSS
• Support alignment with NIST and ISO frameworks
Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
• Own BC/DR planning, execution, and testing
• Lead tabletop exercises and recovery drills
• Partner with business and IT leaders to validate recovery objectives
Leadership
• Lead and mentor a small team of system administrators and engineers
• Operate as a player–coach, balancing hands-on work with team leadership
• Communicate security risk clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Partner closely with the CTO and senior leadership
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in IT security or infrastructure with a strong security focus
• Demonstrated ownership of PCI compliance
• Experience managing audits and working with external auditors or QSAs
• Hands-on experience with Windows endpoints, Entra ID, and SaaS security
• Experience overseeing BC/DR programs
• Ability to work onsite in San Diego 4 days per week
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls
• Experience with VMware and/or Nutanix
• Familiarity with NIST and ISO frameworks
• Background in regulated industries (retail, payments)
• Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA
