Job Description: The Electrician is responsible for performing general electrician and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade facilities, structures, and utilities associated with military Family Housing and Bachelor Housing facilities at various locations on Command Naval Marianas (COMNAVMAR), Guam. The Electrician will be performing service call and preventative maintenance of Military Housing facilities which will require direct communications with Military Housing residents, Government and company quality inspectors.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Must be able to diagnose system problems and provide necessary repair actions
- Employee will be required to interact with the residents to determine the root cause of the problem and inform them of the corrective actions being taken
- This position utilizes written service orders or individual work orders to identify the type of problem and location for the required service. The employee is required to complete the service or work order paperwork once the work is completed and to turn them into the service desk at the end of the shift. If issues arise during the service the employee will communicate via cell phone to the service desk for further direction
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance actions that are required by this contract
- Operates, maintains, repairs and installs electrical equipment, components, and systems in residential housing and commercial buildings
- Installs or repairs a variety of electrical equipment such a kitchen equipment, lighting fixtures, electrical systems and electrical devices; includes safety tag-out/lock-outs of electrical currents to equipment
- Selects materials required for work in compliance with electrical codes
- Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing that pertains to the work
- Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered
- Provides, at the end of the work day, daily materials inventory and daily reports of tasks performed
- Assists other trades and craft personnel in their daily operations, as instructed
- Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed
- This position requires the employee to periodically work swing and weekend shifts on a scheduled basis or to be on-call should a situation arise
- Will be scheduled for an on-call status periodically with other technicians to respond to call-outs after normal working hours as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
- Knowledge in the use of construction materials and methods associated with the assigned work installation to minimize damage of adjacent work
- General knowledge of all maintenance and construction trades
- General knowledge of hand and power tools and testing equipment
- Ability to understand the layout of work from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications, or verbal instructions
- Ability to understand safety safety precautions and the application of safety requirements needed in performing electrical work/ including safety tag-outs/lock-outs
- Ability to understand work standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
- Ability to use a variety of electrician's hand tools, power tools, and measuring/testing instruments
- Ability to maintain and store tools and equipment correctly
- Ability to interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations
- Ability to work closely and harmoniously with other employees
- Ability to work independently without continuous supervision
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Journeyman's certification
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS)

- Four (4) years journeyman-level electrical experience
