The Opportunity

The role is responsible for using hand-welding, flame-cutting, hand soldering, or brazing equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products including galvanized, stainless, and raw steel.

The Team

The role will report to the Production Supervisor. 

Responsibilities

  • Weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work order actions, or verbal instructions ensuring that tolerances are met
  • Clean work area and equipment, grind or chip excess metal from welded products
  • Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet quality specifications
  • Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders
  • Complete mechanical installation of bolted assembles
  • Ensure equipment and tools are in good working condition, reporting maintenance services when required
  • Complete tasks while adhering to Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by the department supervisor

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of welding experience
  • Manufacturing experience is an asset
  • Ability and interest to gain CWB certification
  • Able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds repeatedly
  • Ability to work within confined spaces
  • Familiarity with the use of Jigs & fixtures
  • Able to work in fast paced environment standing for long periods of time
  • Attention to detail, problem solving (basic mechanical and mathematical aptitude) and communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand and follow blueprints and welding symbols
