In this way, it offers a wide range of services throughout the value chain of projects, adapted to each sector and to the scope of the contract required by our clients, both public and private.

Cobra is divided into four main sectors of activity, Networks, Specialised installations, integrated projects and concession assets.

ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed preferred network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission line network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV) is the design and construction contractor for ACEREZ.

The Central-West Orana Transmission Project will provide new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity.

  • Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings, and perform calculations and simulations to validate design concepts and ensure system reliability.
  • Collaborate with primary systems design engineers, civil engineers, and other project team members, and coordinate with clients, contractors, and suppliers to gather requirements and ensure design feasibility.
  • Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and test procedures, maintain accurate records of design changes, decisions, and project milestones, and generate and review bill of materials (BOM) for project components.
  • Conduct design reviews and quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of designs, implementing best practices and lessons learned from previous projects to improve design processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry standards, codes, and regulations related to substation design, and ensure all designs adhere to relevant safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency and quality and provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in substation design, focusing on secondary systems.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering substation design projects.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of electrical protection and control systems.
  • Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and other relevant standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. If you believe you bring the capabilities to succeed in this role, we'd love to hear from you. We look forward to continuing to build our supportive workplace together.
