Play Your Part In Our Team Succeeding

The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all purchased materials meet The LEGO Group’s strict quality, compliance, and sustainability standards. Based in Richmond, VA, this role will oversee supplier performance across categories such as Printing and Packing or Resin & Master-batch, driving continuous improvement and maintaining strong partnerships with both internal teams and external suppliers.

Key responsibilities will include managing supplier claims and corrective actions (including FSC-related discrepancies), conducting supplier audits, verifying the effectiveness of improvement programs, and supporting the implementation of receiving inspection and non-conformance handling processes. The role involves gathering and analyzing supplier performance data, maintaining documentation, and collaborating globally with the SQM team to ensure standardized processes. Timely escalation of risks and proactive engagement with suppliers to resolve issues will be essential for success in this position.

Core Responsibilities:

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage supplier claims, conducting root cause analysis, implementing actions to ensure and prevent issues, and resolving FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) discrepancies.
  • Plan, lead, and document supplier audits; identify non-conformities, risks, and opportunities for improvement in supplier processes and quality systems.
  • Verify the efficiency of measures implemented to accurately handle and avert issues uncovered through claims and audit findings.
  • Support and develop suppliers in establishing and executing quality improvement programs.
  • Implement and maintain incoming inspection procedures and internal processes for handling non-conforming (NC) materials.
  • Gather, monitor, and analyze supplier performance metrics (e.g., PPM, OTD, NCRs); generate regular reports and dashboards.
  • Collaborate closely with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, R&D, and other departments to align quality expectations and resolve issues.
  • Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation relevant to supplier quality operations.
  • Participate in and contribute to the Global SQM Team’s standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promptly escalate critical supplier issues, risks, or non-compliances to leadership and stakeholders as appropriate.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Experience in a Supplier Quality Engineer or Quality Assurance role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience as an ISO 9001:2015 Auditor
  • Direct experience in managing suppliers within the Printing, Packaging, or Resin and Plastics categories is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in conducting supplier audits, handling non-conformances, and managing the CAPA process.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, FSC certification processes, and sustainable sourcing standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Industry certifications such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) are preferred.
  • English fluent level
  • Note: This position is based at our LEGO Virginia manufacturing factory located in Richmond. This is not a remote position.

The salary for this position has a range of min 90,810 to max  136,216 annual based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The definitive compensation may vary in alignment with the selected candidate’s professional background, experience, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficient in root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
  • Knowledge of core tools such as FMEA, SPC, Control Plans, and Process Capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly present technical findings to both internal and external audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and lead quality discussions with suppliers.
  • Experience working with ERP and QMS systems (e.g., SAP, TrackWise); proficiency in MS Office and Power Apps.
  • Experience working in a global matrix organization or with cross-functional global teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20–30% of the time.

Compensation

The salary for this position has a range of $90,810.00 - $136,216.00 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints.
