Position Summary
The Assistant Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse and production-side operations to ensure materials, components, and finished goods flow efficiently between departments. This role emphasizes accuracy in kitting, staging, and production support activities while maintaining seamless communication between Receiving, Inventory Control, and Production.
The Assistant Production Supervisor leads a team responsible for preparing, issuing, and tracking material movements to and from the production area, ensuring alignment with production schedules and company performance standards.
Shift Management & Attendance
- Ensure Assistant Production Supervisors (APSs) take attendance at the start and end of each shift and accurately log data in the attendance tracker.
 - Confirm APSs and material handlers take breaks as scheduled and return on time.
 - Enforce company attendance policies; escalate recurring or unresolved issues promptly.
 - Communicate daily with temporary staffing agencies regarding attendance or performance issues.
 - Conduct shift huddles at the beginning and end of each shift to review:

 - Daily production and kitting goals
 - Line health and staffing priorities

Production & Material Flow
- Ensure timely picking, kitting, and delivery of materials to keep production lines continuously running.
 - Oversee kitting, picking, de-trash, and APS support teams to ensure duties are completed accurately and on schedule.
 - Verify every two hours that all production lines are operating without material shortages or delays.
 - Monitor kit status continuously and reassign labor proactively to prevent downtime.
 - Escalate any blockers, shortages, or resource gaps that may disrupt production flow.
 - Partner with Production Leadership, Planning, and Inventory teams to maintain uninterrupted material flow.
 - Ensure all materials are scanned, moved, and recorded accurately in SAP and applicable tracking systems.
 
Communication & Documentation
- Facilitate clear communication regarding production priorities, kit readiness, and material flow.
 - Ensure APSs document all shift activity, including material shortages, downtime, and staffing notes.
 - Provide comprehensive shift handoffs that clearly communicate line status, open kits, and next-shift priorities.
 - Communicate ETAs, shortages, and issues promptly to prevent line stoppages.
 
Performance & Coaching
- Provide ongoing coaching to APSs and team members to reinforce SAP transaction accuracy, kit quality, and de-trash performance.
 - Review all downtime events at the end of each shift, documenting causes, contributing factors, and corrective actions.
 - Lead, coach, and develop team members to meet productivity, accuracy, and safety standards.
 - Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback and guidance as needed.
 - Foster accountability, teamwork, and adherence to attendance, break, and conduct policies.
 
Inventory Control & System Accuracy
- Participate in daily cycle counts and reconciliation activities to maintain inventory accuracy.
 - Identify and report discrepancies or damaged materials to Inventory Control or Quality Control immediately.
 - Maintain system integrity and accuracy for all material transactions in SAP and related tools.
 
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and company policies.
 - Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize space utilization.
 - Contribute to the development and refinement of production-side processes and procedures.
 
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of warehouse and production operations.
 - Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems.
 - Leadership experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
 - Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
 - Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
