Corporate Services Finance (CSF) provides financial planning, analysis, and controllership support for Corporate Functions (CELA, Finance, HR, and MOST) and drives the company-wide headcount governance process. The CSF team is responsible for P&L management, decision support, and financial stewardship of $12B in annual global expenses. We partner with leaders across Corporate Functions to enable transformation and optimize resources.

We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager - Corporate Groups FP&A to join our CSF FP&A team and lead the standardization, simplification, and automation of financial rhythm-of-business (ROB) processes and analytics across CSF. This role will focus on improving key financial processes - such as forecast, close, planning, and reporting - while enhancing consistency, centralizing certain process components into CSF FP&A, and implementing practices from across CSF and Microsoft Finance. This role will also drive automation projects across CSF, including AI-enabled automation, to transform how we operate, deliver insights, and enable cost savings.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and structured, with the ability to think broadly while maintaining focus on the right level of detail, and skilled at driving practical solutions. They should be confident working across teams, skilled at influencing and advising, and capable of effectively communicating complex concepts. Additional qualities we are looking for include:

  • Proven experience in financial rhythm of the business (ROB) process improvement and simplification
  • Solid understanding of Controllership function
  • Proficient financial reporting and modeling skills (Excel, PowerPivot, Power BI, AI)
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complexity and work through ambiguity
  • Ability to deliver high-impact results through both individual and cross-team efforts
  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and stakeholders under tight deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Process Improvements: Engage across CSF teams and lead efforts to streamline, simplify, and improve financial processes (including components of forecast, close, planning, and reporting), driving consistency and efficiency across the group
  • Automation: Lead automation and AI initiatives to enhance reporting, modeling, and analysis. Collaborate with FD&E partners, as needed, to implement more complex automation solutions
  • Implementation: Oversee successful implementation of process improvements and automation solutions across CSF. Own specific components of centralized processes
  • Stakeholder engagement: Ensure active engagement with the CSF Leadership Team and key stakeholders on process improvements. Collaborate with other FP&A teams across Microsoft Finance to share practices
  • FP&A ROB support: Provide support for CSF FP&A key ROB processes, as needed, including ad hoc financial analysis and data support

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
  • OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ years demonstrated experience in driving automation initiatives through a highly structured, detail-oriented approach
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
  • OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+years work experience in matrix-based organization
  • 1+ years work experience in the technology or software industry
  • 2+ years proven experience leading financial process automation and simplification initiatives (e.g., P&L planning, reporting, or ROB processes) combined with cross-functional collaboration skills to influence and drive results across multiple teams and cultures
  • 2+ years of business partnering experience
  • 1+ years proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, with a track record of clear, organized communication and alignment across stakeholders to deliver complex solutions
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience
  • OR equivalent experience.

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
