The Finance Manager – Minecraft ROB is a high-impact role requiring  analytical capabilities, cross-functional collaboration, and deep understanding of gaming economics. This role supports Mojang Studios and contributes to financial planning, forecasting and analysis.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Reporting 

  • Lead the Rhythm of Business (ROB) processes including month-end close, quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning. 
  • Prepare and deliver insightful financial reporting packages. 
  • Partner with accounting to ensure accurate financial entries and reconciliations. 
  • Support business partners with ad hoc financial analysis and data requests, providing context specific to Mojang Studios. 

Systems, Tools & Data Management 

  • Leverage financial systems and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, SAP) to consolidate, analyze, and visualize results. 
  • Maintain and enhance studio-specific KPIs and dashboards to support decision-making. 
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls. 
  • Own financial system hierarchy setup and maintenance, ensuring data integrity and consistency. 
  • Act as a thought partner for forecast and budget reconciliations, and data governance. 

Strategic & Ad Hoc Analysis 

  • Support finance leaders with deep-dive analysis across programs, product offerings, and monetization strategies. 
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to influence forecasting accuracy and business outcomes. 
  • Collaborate with studio business partners to translate operational metrics into financial impact.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related field
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ plus years of  proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, formulas, pivot tables and data analysis, delivering accurate financial calculations and actionable insights to drive business outcomes.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related field
  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in financial planning & analysis, preferably in gaming, entertainment, or tech. 
  • Proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and data visualization tools. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Business partnering experience, collaborative and inclusive when working with others.
  • Able to manage multiple work streams and prioritize as needed
  • Translate financial analysis and insights into actionable business recommendations.

Financial Analysis IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,800 - $151,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,800 - $168,000 per year.
