We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Product Designer II who will help evolve Outlook’s design system and toolkits on Figma that are used by designers across Microsoft. You will also lead the evolution of an intelligent Outlook design system, one that integrates AI and agentic capabilities to streamline design workflows and enhance cross-functional collaboration. We value user-centered design approaches, visual and interaction design excellence, and transforming current workflows into elegant and usable solutions aimed at improving design process to ultimately elevate UI/UX for greater end user value.

Responsibilities
- You will have end-to-end ownership to deliver toolkits and design guidance that accelerate product development and uphold design excellence.
- Plan, curate, and build a large-scale design system and toolkit consisting of optimized components and visual assets.
- Become an expert in Microsoft brand principles, guidelines, and Fluent product design language, and then evangelize Outlook perspective to stakeholders.
- Define or extend visual design systems to create a holistic and detailed approach to typography, color, patterns, layouts, imagery, icons and more.
- Contribute to cross-platform coherence by collaborating with Windows, iOS, Android, and Mac design system peers.
- Investigate and execute the integration of AI and agentic capabilities in our toolkits.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design
- OR equivalent experience
- 2+ years experience shipping products, services, or games and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.
- OR equivalent experience
- Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
- OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
- Solid visual design/layout/typography skillset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Solid collaboration and communication skills for cross-discipline teamwork.
- Portfolio demonstrating excellence in visual design, interaction design and the creation of components and assets for design systems.
- Experience with Outlook or similar productivity platforms.
- Familiarity with Fluent Design principles and enterprise-scale design systems.
- Interest in AI-forward design systems and emerging design technologies.
- Knowledge of front-end technologies (CSS, HTML) for better collaboration with developers.
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
- OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
Product Design IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
