Description
The Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company. Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll. Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
- Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
- Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
- Provide a system of management cost reports.
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
- Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Maintain the chart of accounts in an orderly accounting filing system.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
- Oversee accounting operations, especially the control systems, and transaction-processing operations.
- Ensure that accounts payables are paid in a timely manner,
- Ensures payroll is processed in a timely manner.
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
- Ensure accounts receivable are collected promptly.
- Ensure that all required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education And Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible financial/accounting experience. Master's degree highly preferred. Experience in health care financial management strongly preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
