🕘 Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (75 hours biweekly)
🔍 What You’Ll Do:
- Make timely and informed decisions that consider facts, goals, constraints, risk, Excel Society Values, and the Excel Advantage.
- Oversee the maintenance of books of account (including but not limited to preparing cheques, coding and posting invoices, preparing deposits, journal entries, reconciliations, client spending, cash card accounting, MasterCard accounting, petty cash).
- Assist in preparing monthly / quarterly financial statements and financial statement/variance analysis for the Senior Leadership Team, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors ensuring adherence to Accounting Standards for Not-For-Profits (ASNPO).
- Liaise with department staff and support them in bookkeeping needs related to their program areas.
- Oversee internal system of handling funds. Ensure proper controls are in place and are followed.
- Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets and assist with preparation for any audits or independent reviews with support from the Director of Finance.
- Participate in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institute and maintain other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system) and analyze and report variances to the Assistant Director of Finance, the Director of Finance, the Senior Leadership team, and the Audit Committee.
- Quarterly and annual financial reporting on contracts (PDD, AHS, NWT, Nunavut).
- Oversee issuing of cheques / payment of invoices.
- Exert care and control over assets and records and establish procedures for safeguarding assets under the control of the Finance department.
- Maintain up-to-date, complete, and systematic filing system to support bookkeeping and financial records.
- Responsible for GST tax compliance.
✅ What You Bring:
- CPA designation required.
- Familiar with Not-For-Profit Accounting Standards.
- Excellent problem identification, problems solving, computer, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with progressing payroll.
- Excellent working knowledge of UKG, Sage, and MS365.
- Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with departments and key business partners.
- Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
- Satisfactory criminal record check.
