Job Summary

Provides support in one or more functional areas within the broader Finance organization, including, but not limited to Strategic Finance, Treasury and Corporate Development. Interns will support the enterprise through financial analysis, reporting, forecasting and developing tools that will help to influence decision-making by providing strategic insights across the organization. Interns are considered to be an integral part of the finance team and are provided with tasks both challenging and educationally stimulating.

Job Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Seek out insights and information regarding the supported business unit(s) or department(s), while learning how these areas function, their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), financial summaries and future performance expectations.
  • Participate alongside the current FDAP rotational analysts in trainings and information sessions surrounding the various areas of the broader finance organization. The intern will also have the opportunity to participate in one-on-one meetings with various finance and business leaders across the bank.
  • Interns will present a final “Capstone” summary to a cohort of the broader finance organization on their experience with the company and how they supported their assigned business unit(s) or department(s).
  • Internship tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses to support short- and long-term strategic decisions.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Generate forecasts and analyze trends in revenue, expenses, and other financial metrics.
  • Research and analyze financial indicators such as underlying driver changes and business profitability.
  • Prepare and maintain organizational, business unit, and departmental budgets.
  • Support balance sheet and income forecasting across various finance functions.
  • Collaborate with Treasury to analyze capital adequacy, liquidity, and interest rate risk.
  • Assist Corporate Development in strategic analyses of banking units and the broader banking industry while also playing an ancillary role in evaluating mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Engage with employee resource groups and community outreach initiatives.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Currently enrolled in bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in Finance, Financial Reporting, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, MIS or a closely related field.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software products, including advanced Excel skills.
