What You'Ll Do:

In this hands-on role, you'll lead penetration testing for IoT (Internet of Things) hardware and firmware devices analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed security best practices throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Conduct penetration testing and security assessments on IoT devices, including sensors, actuators, and gateways.
  • Analyze hardware and firmware for vulnerabilities, perform reverse engineering, and conduct risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain custom tools and scripts to automate security testing.
  • Create threat models using methodologies such as STRIDE, DREAD, and data flow diagrams.
  • Document and present findings through detailed reports, proof-of-concept exploits, and remediation strategies.
  • Collaborate with software developers, product managers, and hardware engineers to integrate security into product design.
  • Apply cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., OWASP, PCI, NIST) and contribute to secure SDLC, key management, and manufacturing practices.
  • Define and enforce cybersecurity requirements across the full lifecycle of IoT devices — from design to end-of-life.
  • Use lab tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, memory programmers, etc.) to support hardware testing and modification.
  • Provide training and mentorship on IoT security and penetration testing techniques.
  • Stay current on emerging IoT threats and continuously evolve testing methodologies.

What You'Ll Do:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in hard and firmware penetration testing and an understanding of IoT security; IoT experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in tools like Metasploit, Burp Suite, and Wireshark.
  • Solid understanding of hardware security principles and communication protocols.
  • Programming experience in Python, C/C++, or similar languages.
  • Hands-on experience with reverse engineering and firmware analysis.
  • Certifications such as CEH, OSCP, or CISSP are a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this role is $116,800.00 - $175,200.00 and is based on experience and qualifications.

Certain roles are eligible for annual bonus and may include equity. These awards are allocated based on company and individual performance.
