Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

  • Employment Type: Full-time, office based role

The Job

We are seeking a skilled System Administrator to join our team and ensure the smooth operation, reliability, and security of our IT infrastructure. As a key member of our technology department, you will be responsible for managing servers, networks, cloud environments, and internal systems that support our software development and business operations.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in maintaining both on-premises and cloud-based systems in a fast-paced software company environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, and network devices.
  • Manage user accounts, access control, and permissions across systems.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure maximum uptime.
  • Administer cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) used for development, testing, and production.
  • Maintain security policies, firewalls, antivirus, and patch management.
  • Perform regular backups and disaster recovery planning/testing.
  • Support software engineering teams with environment setup, CI/CD tools, and version control systems.
  • Monitor logs and implement proactive measures to prevent system failures.
  • Automate routine tasks through scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python).
  • Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and IT support teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Act as the Fire Safety Officer for the office.
  • Ad-hoc office tasks

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, IT Administrator, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, routing).
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.).
  • Scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsDesired skills
  • Fluency in English

Desired Skills

  • Experience in supporting software development environments (CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Previous work experience in a software product or SaaS company.
  • Fluency in French.
