Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP seeks a Paralegal for its Greensboro office to research law, investigate facts, and prepare documents to assist attorneys on the Intellectual Property and other teams. The candidate should be well versed in all facets of patent prosecution, including U.S., PCT, non-PCT convention, Design, Hauge, and national stage filings, and have experience in patent prosecution and with a focus on filing US and foreign patent documents in a variety of countries.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge and execution of US patent filings via EFS.
- Knowledge and management of foreign patent prosecution and working with foreign agents.
- Review office actions and other communications from patent offices and reporting same to client.
- Prepare office action response shells for attorney.
- Prepare formal documents, forwarding to client for signature and filing with various patent offices.
- Monitor the daily docket and appropriate steps to clear deadlines.
- Work closely with the docketing staff to ensure all dates are docketed.
- Communicate with USPTO personnel as needed.
- Handle and process foreign associate invoices.
- Strong knowledge of Windows-based software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; document management systems, including NetDocs and docketing systems, such as CPi or Foundation IP.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team interacting with all levels of Firm personnel and with clients.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to take the initiative to accomplish objectives in a timely manner while demonstrating professionalism.
- Knowledge of U.S. and foreign procedures and processes relating to patent prosecution and filing patent applications.
- Ability to develop and document processes and procedures.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and five or more years related experience and/or training in a law firm with patent docketing and/or prosecution administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience with Intellectual Property filing and prosecution rules and regulations.
- Attention to detail.
- Punctuality and satisfactory attendance is imperative.
- Excellent client service is expected.
