Purpose of the Role

BGIS is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee day-to-day operations at a high-profile, landmark Southbank venue along the Yarra River. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of maintenance, operations, and client services - creating a safe, efficient, and exceptional experience for all visitors.

Working closely with a supportive on-site team and the client, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a lively, customer-focused environment and enjoys variety in their day-to-day work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee reactive and planned maintenance programs, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Manage subcontractors, budgets, invoicing, and financial performance in line with targets.
  • Coordinate works to meet all contractual KPIs and safety standards.
  • Build positive relationships with clients through proactive communication and service delivery.
  • Support, guide, and develop a small, close-knit team to achieve operational excellence.
  • Lead safety and sustainability initiatives, embedding continuous improvement across the site.

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Proven experience in Facilities Management or a related leadership role.
  • Strong background in maintenance operations and contractor management.
  • Trade qualification (Mechanical/Electrical) with post-trade engineering or equivalent.
  • Financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and client engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in large, public or event-focused environments.
  • Knowledge of PPP, ESD, and sustainability practices.
  • Exposure to collaborative or alliance contracting models.
