Position Description
Hr Generalist Ii:
Performs highly complex human resources-related work in a district or the Human Resources Division. Responsible for one or more human resources program(s). Work requires reviewing, preparing, and maintaining confidential information. Work requires contact with management, employees, retirees, health care providers, and state and federal agencies. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Hr Generalist Iii:
Performs and/or coordinates advanced human resources-related work in a district or the Human Resources Division. Facilitates one or more human resources programs. May serve as a lead worker for professional, technical, and/or administrative employees. Work requires reviewing, preparing, and maintaining confidential information. Work requires contact with management, employees, retirees, health care providers; and state and federal agencies. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Essential Duties:
Hr Generalist Ii:
- Enters, maintains, and coordinates data such as applicant, salary, and benefits transactions using a Human Resources Information Management System (PeopleSoft).
- Participates in hiring program activities, including, but not limited to, managing job openings, screening employment applications, assisting in interviewing, and facilitating the hiring process.
- Participates in quality review activities for human resources programs.
- Interprets human resources policies and procedures and pertinent state/federal rules and regulations with guidance from Supervisor or Lead Worker.
- Responds to inquiries and complaints regarding human resources policies and procedures.
- Reviews various legal and administrative documents.
- Responds to and processes requests and inquiries from employees for various human resources activities and programs.
- Provides guidance to management on sensitive issues in areas such as substance abuse and employee discipline.
- Review and manage routine and complex medical-related employee needs, including Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Keeps abreast of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Hr Generalist Iii:

- Plans and coordinates projects
- Coordinates hiring program activities, including, but not limited to, monitoring and/or managing job openings, screening employment applications, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring process.
- Develops and/or provides human resources training.
- Conducts quality reviews of human resources programs.
- May develop staff through mentorship and one-on-one coaching.
- May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.
- Serves as a subject matter expert to other human resources professionals.
- Provides information, answers questions, and advises employees, supervisors, managers, districts, and divisions on human resources policies and procedures via computer, phone, or in person.
- Serves as a Department primary point of contact and/or liaison for human resources-related matters.
- Prepares, reviews, and monitors correspondence, reports, forms, and transactions.
- Consults and coordinates with Department management/staff, and governmental agencies regarding interpretation of rules, regulations, and laws to ensure program compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, with guidance from Supervisor or Lead Worker.
- Provides guidance to management on sensitive issues in areas such as substance abuse, employee discipline, violence prevention, and reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Researches, analyzes, and resolves human resources issues; and provides solutions and/or recommendations Departmentmanagement.

- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline.
- Relevant work experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
- 1 year human resources-related experience.
- Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent.
- Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
