Risk Analyst, Credit & Counterparty Risk
The Risk Analyst, Credit & Counterparty Risk, will support various activities across Enterprise Risk Management’s Credit Risk team, in a high-visibility role that interacts with business partners across the enterprise. The Risk Analyst will have the opportunity to collaborate with asset managers, insurance portfolio managers, and other risk professionals. The primary focus of the role will be to conduct credit analyses to help understand and control The Hartford’s counterparty risk across financial institutions (i.e., banks), investment trading counterparties, and other businesses.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Hartford, CT office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in managing Credit Risk Processes related to The Hartford’s bank counterparties (i.e., letters of credit), including approvals of new entities, regular surveillance, watch lists, and enhanced risk analyses.
- Conduct risk analyses of trading counterparties for The Hartford’s Investment Management Co. (HIMCO).
- Perform financial analysis for existing and potential new third-party suppliers (i.e., vendors) for The Hartford.
- Support data management and reporting for The Hartford’s Enterprise Credit Risk Portal, used to monitor credit exposures and concentration limits (i.e., single-issuer) across investments, credit-sensitive insurance products, and ceded reinsurance.
- Run risk analytics for concentrations within The Hartford’s Private Real Estate asset portfolio, including Geographic Information System (GIS) monitoring against natural hazards (i.e., hurricane, wildfire), and tenants of commercial properties.
- Conduct regular meetings with insurance and investment portfolio managers to support partnerships.
- Identify and communicate risks to Credit Risk team leaders and key business stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Three or more years of professional experience in credit analysis, counterparty, credit risk management and/or finance at a financial services institution
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain strong relationships with senior management and business/functional leads
- Strong analytical capabilities and experience in fundamental credit analysis
- Ability to work independently
- Organized and detailed oriented with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage competing priorities
- Strong data management skills including Excel, VBA, PowerPoint
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Actuarial Sciences, or Statistics preferred
- Advanced degree, such as MBA or a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics, or a professional designation, such as CFA, CPCU, is a plus

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$72,160 - $150,960The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
