JOB PURPOSE: The IT Manager - IT Systems Training and AI Integration advances El Rio Health’s mission by leading the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of enterprise training programs and by driving the safe and effective integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into clinical and operational workflows. This role ensures that Epic training supports high-quality patient care and staff readiness, while also governing the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) applications to enhance decision support, documentation, and predictive analytics. Through strategic alignment, program management, and cross-functional collaboration, the Manager contributes to El Rio’s key results of providing a world-class experience, healthier patients and employees, and positive financial outcomes.
The primary goal of the El Rio Health IT Manager - IT Systems Training and Artificial Intelligence Integration is to support El Rio’s Mission of providing comprehensive, quality health care that is affordable and accessible to all who may have healthcare needs, by successfully performing the primary essential functions.

Essential Job Functions:
Training & Education
• Leads design and execution of Epic training programs, including onboarding, optimization, and upgrades.
• Manages trainers and instructional designers, ensuring adult learning principles and best practices are applied.
• Partners with analysts and clinical leaders to ensure training aligns with workflows and supports safe patient care.
Artificial Intelligence Application Integration
• Evaluates and implements Artificial Integration/Machine Learning applications (e.g., predictive analytics, decision support, documentation automation).
• Collaborates with data scientists, informaticists, analysts and leadership to oversee solution deployment and monitoring.
• Develops governance for AI model use, bias monitoring, and compliance
Project & Program Management
• Oversees lifecycle of Epic training and AI initiatives using Agile/PMBOK methodologies.
• Maintains project plans, risk assessments, and executive reports.
• Manages vendor relationships related to Epic or AI projects.
Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement
• Aligns Epic and AI strategies with enterprise goals.
• Monitors healthcare IT trends and regulatory changes.
• Recommends and implements process improvements to increase adoption, satisfaction, and outcomes.
• Demonstrates exceptional customer service, responding timely to requests and ensuring stability during go-lives or upgrades.
• Effectively interacts with department heads and other internal clients regarding the implementation of, and compliance with, changes to systems operational requirements and/or standards.
• Participates in the effective and efficient communication and distribution of information with organizational leadership and end-users that fosters and maintains an effective and collaborative understanding between Information Technology and Clinical Operations.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all Policies and Procedures including but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand washing, infection prevention and control etc. for this position.
• Maintains compliance with policies, safety, and organizational standards.
• Demonstrates an understanding of and proficiency with the application of all compliance and reporting requirements respective to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.

• In support of the Mission and Vision of El Rio Health, will at all times represent themselves as a professional role model of El Rio Health serving as a positive informational source for members of the community.
• Supports El Rio by participating in community events which promote good health, and which contribute to a broader awareness and understanding of El Rio Health and the many services provided to the community.
• Participates in all appropriate health care activities related to El Rio Health on a local, state, and national level to maintain and enhance El Rio Health’s image with health agencies, professional associations, and the public.
• Ensures and supports the cost-effective use of materials, supplies, and equipment by limiting waste of all organizational supplies and resources.
• Employees must maintain their skills proficiency with El Rio operating systems and/or software programs by adapting to changing requirements and successfully learning and demonstrating new skills in response to software, system, and program improvements or upgrades.
• Maintains a safe and health work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and by adhering to legal regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management Information System, Computer Information Systems, Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years’ experience with EHR Training, development and support
• Three (3) years’ experience working in a Healthcare environment with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Five (5) years’ supervisory experience: preferably in health care environment.
If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
• Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.
• Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must comply with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.
